Lillian Leon Anderson who turned 100 and was celebrated at Adelup surrounded by family members and old friends.

Guam governor Lou Leon Guerrero announced, "When I see our manamko', I have this great joy because they bring back good memories of what used to happen in the past." And for one island elder, it's now 100 years worth of memories. On May 25, Lillian Leon Anderson marked a century on earth. Flanked by family and friends from near and far along with local politicians, a chorus came together to celebrate her life, singing 'Happy birthday!'.

Adelup recognized Lillian, who is a dancer since the age of five and a lover of music. She  grew up in San Francisco, California before World War II. She met the late Thomas Borja Anderson and they married each other on May 3, 1942.

She has four children, 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

"When I see our manamko I just want to rap my hands around them, and say thank you so much for making us what we are today and we need to continue that respect," she said.

And, with that respect, we continue to Faisen I Manamko.
