It seems as if burglars are getting bolder every day and committing crimes in broad daylight. Liguan residents are staying alert following a slew of robberies. In over 40 years in their home, John Paul Manuel and his family have never experienced anything quite like this.
"My grandmother was in the front of the house and then someone jumped the back gate of the house and were able to get into the extension at the back of the house," he said. "They locked us out of the extension and then they ransacked the place."
The perpetrator managed to get away with his grandma’s wallet and left a knife sitting on the hallway floor.
Christian Marzo, also knows the feeling of a stranger violating their home. Recently, thieves stole some tools from his Liguan home. "When we checked the outside kitchen which they broke into, they did step onto our area where we put the shoes and the window was wide open," he said. "And the lock was broken. I just felt really like sick. Like dude, someone can come into our house and do whatever they want."
Island residents should stay vigilant, as Marzo claims his neighbor had a firearm stolen from inside their home.
"I think they’re going to try to sell it or something or use it against the community that’s why I urge people watch out and try to report anybody suspicious walking around our neighborhood with a backpack or hoodie that doesn’t look like they belong there because that weapon could be used against the people of Guam and the police," he said.
At this time It’s unknown if the break-ins were all committed by the same individual. GPD has been alerted of the incidents and is urging the community to contact 671-475-8615 thru 7 if you have any information. You can also submit an anonymous tip on the Guam Crime Stoppers website.
