Kaiser High School wrestler Thomas McCreadie recently won the OIA "Beast of the East" wrestling title for 160-pound competitors in Hawaii. McCreadie is in his 3rd year of wrestling at Kaiser and made it to state his sophomore season losing in day 1 of the prestigious tournament. Thomas stepped onto the mats in the championship against a familiar face ready to cash in on some pay back.

McCreadie said, "It was a really tough match. The guy that I beat in the finals, he actually pinned me in like 30 seconds when I was a freshman and I was like really not favored in the match. I was the underdog but I didn't really let that get to me I just went out there and did my thing and just wrestled. Yeah so in 2 weeks it's going to be the state championships and I have a lot of confidence now that I won this OIA title so it's going to be good."

The season is far from over for McCreadie. He says there are several other tournaments he's looking forward to. With a 23-1 record this season Thomas is focused on trying to secure his first state title. Nationals, the Reno Worlds in Las Vegas, a tournament in Colorado and camps in the summer will definitely keep him busy. No matter how far he is from the island Thomas is always representing the 671 with his signature socks on the podium.

McCreadie said, "Came back this one summer and I remembered how much it meant to me and I just couldn't leave it behind. I really love Guam and I love my family in Guam. They do everything for me and they support me and when I went into this match all I thought about was everything they done and so I couldn't let them down."
