More officers are on the way to the Department of Corrections,  according to a release from Adelup.

Acting DOC Director Frank Ishizaki signed 28 "offer letters" to potential recruits. Ishizaki is working on the re-employment of several additional corrections officers, making this the "largest recruitment" at DOC in "recent memory."

Once processed and official hires, the new employees will undergo eight weeks of training with the Judiciary of Guam for transport and electronic monitoring.

Guam Peace Officer Standards and training commission certifications will be met with on the job training, the release said. Funding for the new hires will come from the prison's existing budget.
