Dexter Long accuses latest appointed attorney of being racist

Drug defendant Dexter Long is back in federal court today, still asking to file a guilty plea. Long was indicted on federal drug charges connected to the attempted possession of about 1,000 gross grams of suspected meth in May.
Earlier this month he was appointed a new attorney William Garvas and in court Long expressed some frustration with his attorney. Stating that within the past three weeks, he has not had any communication and says it's racially driven.
Garvas responded stating this is not the case and then recommends to be withdrawn because his client is accusing him of being a racist.
Then Long said he's a good attorney and doesn't want to be "abandoned" by another lawyer. Judge Joaquin Manibusan, said that if Garvas is removed then we may be back in this situation again. As we've reported there have been various counsel's appointed to the case.
Garv
as remains as counsel and trial is set for Oct 17. However, it was stated by the Government that the parties have entered discussions and a plea agreement is forthcoming to fulfill the defendant's desire to plead guilty.
