Onward Talofofo Golf Club

October 5, 2019

General Information & Rules

TEE-BOX:                    Red Tee:      Ladies                    White Tee:      Men

SHOTGUN START:    All players must report to starter no later than 12:00 noon. Tee-off will be at 12:30pm

GAME FORMAT: Two-man Best Ball – Modified Callaway , “SELECT SHOT FROM TEE THROUGH GREEN”.

  1. Each team member hits a ball from the tee box. White tees for men, Red tees for ladies.
  2. After both players have teed off, each player identifies their ball location and selects a location from which they will be hitting their next shot. Player whose ball location was not selected picks up his/her ball.
  3. Both players then take a shot from the selected location, not more than 6 inches and not nearer the hole of the selected player’s ball lie. CONTINUE this format through-out the tournament’s play.

The tournament is 18 holes,  with each team’s score to be computed after the competition of the round using a modified blind Callaway system (Double Peoria). Please score each hole correctly. Record the GROSS number of strokes and return scorecard duly signed and attested to the score checkers after the competition. Ensure your score on each hole is legible. ONLY YOUR TEAM SCORE SHOULD BE MARKED ON YOUR SCORECARD. DO NOT INCLUDE OTHER TEAM’S SCORE ON YOUR SCORECARD. Scorecards with scores not correctly recorded and/or not correctly signed and attested will be disqualified. The team with the lowest net for the full 18 holes is the winner. Ties will be determined by a scorecard playoff beginning with hole number 18.

WINTER RULES: Winter rules will be in effect. You may lift, clean and place your ball no more than six inches, but not nearer the hole in fairways and rough. Play ball as it lies in hazards. Hazards include all bunkers (sand traps) and areas marked off by red and yellow stakes. Blue staked (ground repair), ball may be lifted, clean and drop within one club length from the point of entry not closer to the hole.

OUT OF BOUNDS: Defined by lines of white stakes, major road ways and fences. Out of bounds is determined by the nearest line of sight, inside point of stakes, at ground level. A ball out of bounds lies outside this line.

If both players are in doubt whether either of their balls is safe, both players shall play a provisional ball.

LOST BALL:  If in doubt as to a ball’s resting place, play a provisional ball. You are limited to five (5) minutes to search for your ball. A penalty of one (1) stroke will be assessed to a team for exceeding the time allotted to search for a lost ball. For lost ball, add one (1) penalty stroke to your score.

LATERAL HAZARD: Marked off by red stakes. If your ball enters a lateral hazard, you may play the next ball from a drop within one (1) club length from the point of entry no closer to the hole, adding one (1) stroke penalty to your score.

TOURNAMENT CANCELLATION: In the event of inclement weather that will cause the golf course to shut down during play; the remaining holes un-played will be scored PAR to determine the tournament winners.

CART PATHS: All carts must remain on the cart paths. Players who drive on the fairway will be penalized.

Additional local rules printed on the score card.
