Pair allegedly stole moped, burglarized pickup the next day
Two men were arrested after allegedly stealing a moped one day and burglarizing a pickup in a hotel parking lot the following day.
On June 10, Bryon Phillip Villagomez, 26, and Javon Dewitt Scales, 23 were found in a Tumon hotel's parking lot near a Toyota Tacoma with the doors open. Villagomez told the hotel security guard he purchased the pickup from a man named "Juan."
The guard, however, was aware of the pickup's owner and also was on the lookout for white Honda vehicle thought to be involved the theft of a stolen moped the day before.
Police interviewed the pair as well as the pickup's owner who said he neither knew the men or sold the pickup to them.
The previous day, a report of a stolen moped was made where a white Honda was noted near the scene of the crime. Court documents state the Honda returned to the area 20 minutes later followed by a moped.
Court documents state Villagomez drove the white Honda on June 9, dropping Scales near the moped. Scales admitted he "hot wired" the moped and that Villagomez helped him steal it.
It was noted that Scales also is on pre-trial release for burglary as a second-degree felony. He was charged with one count of burglary as a second degree felony and theft as a second degree felony.
