A tragedy unfolded on the back road in Pagat. The man killed in serious car crash in Mangilao overnight has been identified as 22 year old Preston Hale.

The crash happened along route 15 near Hawaiian Rock Products around 11:50 Thursday night. Police say the Hale was driving a gray Toyota Hilux pickup truck heading west along back road when he lost control and ran off the roadway. Investigators say the truck overturned onto the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. He was found unconscious with no pulse.

Medics performed CPR as they rushed him to the Guam Memorial Hospital, but he didn't survive.

He was pronounced dead around 12:55 am.

Chief medical examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola says the autopsy shows that Hale died from a skull fracture, broken neck, and crushed chest.

GPD Highway Patrol is investigating whether speed, alcohol, or drugs are possible factors that resulted in the deadly crash.

Toxicology results are pending.
