Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to sit behind the news desk, or attend community events with an all- access media pass? Well, now you can with us.
KUAM is using a new social media application to give our viewers a behind the scene glimpse into the work we do every day. Social media producer Andrew Roberto said, "Periscope is a live streaming video app available on your smartphone, and if you want to think about it it's like seeing the world through somebody else's eyes. So someone can take their smartphone, go to the Periscope app for iOS or Android, and then what they record, you see in realtime."
Not only does it give users a live stream of events, but it also allows them to send in questions or comments and interact with KUAM News as we're covering the day's events. "Just last night, I was at the Guam Art Exhibit and I was using the Periscope app to bring the art exhibit to our audience members," said Roberto. "So let's say I'm at GAX and people are wondering is there a fee they have to pay to enter, they can type that straight into there and I can answer it for them."
"We're definitely going to be going to community events, 5K runs, the Festival of the Pacific Arts - I would love to use Periscope for that!"
KUAM also be using Periscope to give viewers behind the scenes views of our broadcasts and interviews, and we are always interested in learning about what our viewers are interested in seeing. "You can go to Twitter and follow us @guamnews_kuam and once you follow us there you can pretty much find us on Periscope - it's the same name because Twitter owns Periscope."
You can also follow our sister station at @Guamsi94fm to get behind-the=-scene glimpses into on-air interviews and more. All you have to do is download Periscope free of charge for iOS in the App Store or for Android in Google Play. Also don't forget to also check us out on Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.
