In the PXC 49 amateur fight Mike Puccini weathered the storm against the bigger and stronger Frank Meno at 155-pounds. Meno was able to control the fight and land some solid shots that bloodied up Puccini. Mike puccini was able to exchange and land shots of his own to wear down Meno and take the fight into the 2nd round where he was able to pull off the submission win via guillitine choke.
1st fight of the main card: Mike Sanchez used his ground game to keep Mcklane Alfred scrambling the entire time during their 125-pound fight. Sanchez coming off a loss to Alfreds training partner in his PXC debut, looked more determined this time around pressing the action and going for several submission attempts early in the fight. Mike Sanchez was the taller of the two fighters and used his reach to his advantage forcing Mcklane to tap in the first round via rear naked choke.
2nd fight: with the island of Saipan on his back Shane Alvarez made quick work of Filipino fighter Jessie Rafols. Alvarez broke free from a guillitine attempt by Rafols and took the fight to the ground. Shane worked the ground and pulled off the rear naked choke in round 1.
3rd fight: Ricky Camp and Jarome Cruz took to the cage next. Camp the more experienced fighter used his jab and leg kicks to keep the distance. When the fighters clinched Camp was able to get the fight to the ground and land in side control working his way to get the back of Cruz and eventually sink in the rear naked choke in the first round.
4th fight: Eric Gatmen looked great early in the fight against Japan's Koyomi Matsushima. Gatmen landing some leg kicks and solid punches from his feet. Matsushima worked in the takedown and put Gatmen on his back. Eric Gatmen looked to pull off an arm bar attempt while Koyomi Matsushima lifted him off the ground for the slam. Gatmen held on and didn't break away from his grip and paid for it losing by KO after getting thrown to the canvas.
5th fight: Frank The Crank Camacho took the first round win over the very tough and experienced Kengo Ura out of japan. Frank also riding a lot of emotions from the typhoon that hit Saipan, dedicating some of his purse money to the relief efforts. With fight of the night potential, both fighters did exactly what they said they were going to do. Bite down on their mouth pieces, tuck their chins and swing away while staying in the pocket. Frank clipped Ura with a punch and followed up with a flurry of punches for the referee stoppage.
6th fight: Tyrone Jones beat out Japanese fighter Takayuki Kobayashi in the very first round of their 155-pound match up. Jones fought through a couple of early submission attempts by his Japanese opponent getting out of danger minutes into the fight. Jones was caught in an arm bar attempt and slammed his way out of the lock. Kobayashi was the 2nd fighter of the night that paid for his submission attempt getting knocked out during the slam by Tyrone Jones.
7th fight: Trevin Jones grinded out another technical win against the very dangerous striker Mark Abelardo. Trevin worked his game plan to a "t" exchanging up top when he had to and shooting in for the takedown when he saw an opening. Mark Anelardo looked a bit frustrated not able to let his hands go during the fight as Jones kept him pinned against the cage for most of the fight. Trevin secured takedowns throughout the rounds and tried to get Abelardo with the rear naked choke but was unsuccessful. After 3 rounds Trevin Jones was given the unanimous decision win.
In the main event fight of PXC 49 Brogan Walker and Gabby Romero showed fight fans that a women's fight can definitely be the headline of a fight card. Romero making her PXC debut showed great submission skills trying to secure numerous attempts for all 3 rounds. Walker 1-0 in PXC looked to be the more condition fighter as the fight went on. Romero managed to take walker down a few times but during the scrambles Brogan reversed the action and stood back up. Walker continued to press forward in the 3rd and final round landing kicks and punches as Romero walked forward. Brogan Walker improves to 2-0 in the PXC with the unanimous decision win.
