King of the Lanes has tough bowling competition

What started as a neck to neck battle in the opening frames turned into a route as Keith Guerrero strung strikes from the fourth to the eighth frame to defend his monthly Budweiser King of the Lanes title against 3rd seed Jay Leon Guerrero. Top seed Guerrero continued his winning ways with a 236-216 victory after stopping 7th seed Joey Miranda III in the semi-finals 205-168. Leon Guerrero eliminated 2nd seed JD Castro 206-168 in the other semi-final.

In the earlier elimination rounds, Miranda rolled past 5th seed JaeSang Lee 226-180 while Leon Guerrero ousted Manny Tagle 162-143 to advance to the semis.

Guerrero led all bowlers in the qualifying round held earlier in the day with a 1318 total averaging 219 pins per game. JD Castro finished in second followed by Ray San Nicolas, Leon Guerrero, Ricky Duenas, Miranda, Dante Godoy, Tagle, Manibusan and Carlos Pangelinan rounded out the top ten who advanced to the elimination rounds.

Chris Leal opened his match against 2nd seed Greg Esplana scorching the lanes with a 235 game, drubbing the lower seed to claim his first Budweiser Prince of the Lanes title of 2015. Leal moved into the monthly finale beating Cesar Villanueva 193-168 while Esplana dispatched Mike Gumataotao 166-148 to set up the finale.

Leal led the field of Prince Competitors followed by Esplana, Hye Yeon Chang, Gumataotao, Jin Zang Li, Josh George, Lee Young Bok, Kim Ariola, Mike Wong and Cesar Villanueva rounded off the top ten who qualified for the elimination round.

The next Budweiser King and Prince of the Lanes monthly tournament will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Central Lanes Bowling Center.
