JFK wins boys basketball, girls softball championships
The Father Duenas Friars and J.F.K Islanders took to the U.O.G Calvo Field House for this year's IIAAG Boy's High School Basketball championship game last Friday night. Islander's player Chris Conner hits the 3-point shot from the corner here. Conner finished the game with 20-points.
F.D bringing the ball up court to find Roy Taimanglo cutting to the basket for the finish off the backboard for 2-points. Friars looking to attack the inside again, ball gets kicked out to Isaiah Sablan for the long jumper. The J.F.K Islanders were crowned champions after the final whistle blew winning the title 56-54 over F.D. Chris Conner getting inside the paint for the bucket.
The last time the Islanders were crowned champions was back in 2004.
Congratulations also go out to the J.F.K Lady Islanders for winning the 2015 IIAAG Girl's High School Softball championship trophy. The Islanders defeated the Academy Cougars 10-6 at the Leo Palace Softball Field. J.F.K led 6-1 past the midway part of the game when the Cougars would mount a comeback of their own to make things interesting later on.
The Islanders dug deep and managed to score a couple of late runs to seal the deal and walk away with this year's title. J.F.K is now the new girl's on the block after the Southern High Dolphins were 5-time defending champions.
