Motorcyclist killed after colliding with wild pig

Guam - As the island was celebrating the New Year, in the village of Chalan Pago a man lost his life, marking the first traffic related fatality of 2015.
Lino Aguon was visiting his family in Chalan Pago on New Year's Eve when shortly after midnight. "All of a sudden I hear was the boy was crying so I came out and then saw that was his father right down here laying down here," he recalled.
Aguon said he immediately called 911, adding, "When officers and medic units arrived they found a 34 year old motorcyclist to be unconscious and unresponsive he wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash."
According to acting police spokesperson Paul Tapao the 34 year old motorcyclist was traveling south along Santa Cruz Drive in Chalan Pago when all of a sudden a wild pig darted out on to the road. The two collided and the victim was thrown off the bike. "He was transported to naval hospital where around 3 o'clock this morning he was later pronounced dead by Naval Hospital staff," he said.
The victim's son was traveling behind him and saw the horrific crash. KUAM News has learned the motorcyclist was 34 year old Gary Camacho of Chalan Pago. According to Tapao, the case has been forwarded to GPD's Highway Patrol Division.
"Speed alcohol and other factors will be determined pending the outcome of the investigation. At the time of the crash the road conditions were dry and as you can see there are no sufficient lighting during the time of the crash," he said.
