Guam - Adam Suharto was promoted to black belt in shinkyokushin Karate. He is the first person from Guam to receive a shinkyokushin black belt in 6 years.
Chris Biolchino, Branch Chief, told KUAM Sports, "We will be awarding the first shinkyokushin black belt in Guam in the past 6 years. Adam Suharto will be the recipient and he worked really hard. He's been training for 7 years diligently and he has participated in tournaments in Japan, Malaysia and the Philippines. He has been really dedicated to the art and we are very proud of him. We also have Sempai Randy Angoco who will be promoted to second degree black belt today as well."
Suharto added, "Well Kyokushin is really not an easy sport I have to say. Achieving a black belt is not the easiest thing. We really must have a lot of dedication to it and put your mind and your heart into it. At least for me, I did. A black belt in Kyokushin means a new beginning so I'm just restarting my level again and I don't plan on quitting any time soon."
