Mother of three accused of beating her kids

Guam - It's the latest in poor parenting allegations as a Yona woman is arrested and charged for beating her three children.

She's accused of using everyday household items to beat her three children and on Wednesday, 35-year-old Francisca Ready was arrested and charged with family violence and child abuse both as third degree felonies in addition to two counts each of family violence and child abuse as misdemeanors.

According to court documents, police responded to the Yona home following a complaint called in by Ready's common law husband who reported the defendant had struck their children.

The man pointed out to police a red streak on the floor - what he believed to be blood from one of the children.

He also indicated that this was not the first time he had witnessed Ready hit their children and told police he "immediately felt his heart hurting as he watched his children getting hit."

Court documents show the children are 11, 8, and 7 years old and that when police arrived to the scene, Ready locked herself in the bedroom with them.

After a wire hanger was used to unlock the door, police observed as the defendant spoke with her children in a language the officers didn't understand - what one of the children later translated for them. In English, the child stated their mother threatened to spank them again if they told police what had happened.

Interviews with the husband and three victims show that Ready was angry at her children for playing outside and allegedly hit one of the children using a pink broom.

The force was so hard the broom handle broke prompting the defendant to then use a white plastic container to hit the oldest child who then ran into the bathroom.

Ready reportedly followed after the child hitting her on the head with a bathroom cleaner bottle.

The child also indicated that ready pinched her face.

Meanwhile, the 7-year-old reports ready hit him in the ear with a black slipper.

The children also told police that their mother "spanks them a lot" using a belt or clothing hanger.

Officers observed injuries on the two oldest children ranging from bumps on the forearms, discoloration below the eye, abrasions by the upper lip, and lacerations on the jaw.

Although there were no visible injuries on the youngest child, he is noted to have complained about pains in his shoulder.

Earlier today ready appeared before Magistrate Judge Alberto Tolentino. She was released on a $5,000 performance bond. Her next court appearance is before Judge Arthur Barcinas on November 6.
