Guam - Some good news for Catholic Social Services as USDA's rural development state director Chris Kanazawa announced the non-profit organization has been awarded a $50,000 grant. USDA area director Joseph Diego said, "It's competitive because these grants aren't awarded by our office but by our Washington dc office with their application they were able to get 50 thousand dollars and combining that with the 27 and half 27,500 funds that they have set aside to repair now they are able to do a lot more."
The money will be used to help repair and rehabilitate the Liheng Apartment Complex in Mangilao. The structure is a two-story, eight-unit facility consisting of a two-bedroom, one bath layout. Wheelchair accessible apartments for the elderly population ages 55 and above are also available.
Social workers from CSS provide assistance to the tenants of Liheng.
