Calvo attending Coral Reef Task Force meeting in Virgin Islands
Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo is in the Virgin Islands this week attending the 30th meeting of the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force. Governor Calvo left on Monday along with his chief policy advisor Arthur Clark, Bureau of Statistics & Plans director Lorilee Crisostomo and Chamorro Affairs president Joseph Cameron.
According to the Governor's Office, Governor Calvo is taking the opportunity to get as much information as part of his appointment to President Barack Obama's State, Local and Tribal Leaders Task Force on climate preparedness and resilience earlier this month. Calvo has stated his concerns over the region facing drastic climate changes, especially coral bleaching, coastal erosion and rising seas.
Meanwhile next month, Governor Calvo will be attending the presidential task force meeting in Washington, DC as part of his new appointment.
