Guam - Kids from around the island were treated to a free football camp held by the San Francisco 49ers and MFL Football players at the U.O.G Field. The camp was held right before the 2013 MFL Football Championship game between the Cars Plus Rams and Pepsi Warriors.
MFL president EJ Calvo said, "This camp was brought to you by Tropical Productions, Calvo's Enterprise, P.I.C Hotel and Cars Plus who helped with all the expenses incurred to bring the 49ers out here and put on a free camp for the kids. They are going to run around and give these kids a real NFL workout and a chance to play with some of the best players in the world."
John Payne, a former 49er Quarterback, said, "We try to do these events in the off-season where we give back to communities and this great opportunity for us to come to the island of Guam and share our football experiences and skills with the kids here. We have over 100 kids and I can't say enough about what a great experience this is for the kids as well as us and I really congratulate EJ Calvo for putting this thing together."
Tony Jerod-Eddie, a defensive end for the 49ers, said, "When I was younger I didn't have much and I had a little more than these kids have right now. So it's always great to come and show love to less fortunate kids. They don't have the same resources we have in the U.S mainland. You guys have a great island here and it's just fun to come out here with the kids and make them laugh and help them enjoy themselves. Football is important but the most important thing is to have fun and that's what I'm out here to do. Put a few smiles on the kids faces and my job is done."
