Guam - A man who admitted to downloading child pornography from the Internet is hoping to be sentenced to two years behind bars while the government is asking for more than eight years. Galileo Cacapit Cruz pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in the District Court.
He was found in possession of more than 20 movies depicting male child rape with victims as young as ten years old. The government, in its sentencing memorandum, has asked that receive 97 months due to the types of videos Cruz sought out to download.
The defense argues that the sentencing guidelines are irrationally high and Cruz should only receive two years with three years probation.
Sentencing is set for this Wednesday in the District Court.
