Soldier in Guard HQ shooting dies
Guam - A soldier who tried to take his life outside the Joint Forces Command Headquarters of the Guam Army National Guard in Barrigada died on Tuesday night. The active duty soldier, whose identity has not been officially released, passed away before 9:30 Tuesday at Naval Hospital in Agana Heights.
The shooting occurred by the Fallen Heroes Memorial outside the Guard headquarters. The man, only described as being in his 50s, sustained a single gun shot wound to the head that medics said was self-inflicted.
Police continue to investigate the incident while the Guard has withheld comment as they conduct their own inquiry.
