Guam - While Guam servicemembers currently deployed in Afghanistan won't be able to celebrate Liberation Day on Guam, they will be getting a piece of our island courtesy of the Lieutenant Governor's Office.
The Works Foundation together with the Guam National Guard held a check presentation of $1,600 for Project Minagof, which will ship care packages of some of Guam's favorite local products. "The simple thing of Tabasco or Spam goes a long way," said Colonel Johnny Lizama. "It's hard to explain that unless you've been in that situation and it will bring a tear to your eye because it's actually Guam remembering their sons and daughters."
All proceeds will be used to pay for shipping fees for approximately 140 care packages, which were sent to the post office today.
