DOE continues fraud review
by Krystal Paco
Guam - DOE is continuing to look into the $56,000 worth of fraudulent checks that failed to clear throughout the United States over the last month. Interim superintendent Taling Taitano said, "There's nothing that's been brought to our attention that would lead us to believe that it was anything internal. The checks that were attempted to be cashed were throughout the United States, so it's our thought that somehow one of our checks got intercepted and Photoshopped."
Taitano has worked with the bank to ensure no further checks can be issued from that account. DOE is also moving forward with positive pay, a fraud detection tool.
