Guam - Port management will be meeting with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood this Saturday. LaHood will be on Guam as he will be the keynote speaker for the University of Guam's spring commencement exercises.
While on the island, the management will provide a briefing on the agency's modernization efforts, and officials are hoping to get a better sense of what the Department of Transportation and the Maritime Administration have envisioned for the Port and how Department of Defense funds will be used.
In the meantime, the Port's board will meet on Tuesday to decide whether they will undertake $15 million in a service life extension of the wharf as well as the tariff surcharge.
