Mobile phone found in special housing unit

Guam - The discovery of a cell phone in a high security level housing unit at the Department of Corrections has resulted in the ban of mobile devices from the Mangilao compound.  DepCor Internal Affairs Officer Jeff Limo says a memo issued yesterday mandates that officers and administrative staff are no longer authorized to carry cell phones to work.  If employees have phones in their vehicles, they must park them outside the compound.

He told KUAM News, "Because of the findings of a cell phone, the warden along with the director decided that since this is an ongoing problem that we've been having that inmates and detainees manage to get cell phones so this is what prompted the whole not having cell phones on the compound."

An investigation is underway to determine how an inmate was able to get a cell phone in the Special Housing Unit. Limo meanwhile says the only ones authorized to carry a cell phone into the compound are the director and the warden.
