Director: Gary McKendry
Time: 1 hour 40 minutes
Genre: Action
Starring: Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Robert DeNiro
"Killer Elite" is an action-packed espionage flick based on true events. The film is solid and features A-listers such as Jason Statham, Clive Owen and Robert DeNiro. Unfortunately, while the film is decent, it is easily forgettable. While the trio do perform fairly well, the material is not stellar and their performances are far from their respective bests.
Danny Bryce (Jason Statham) must kill 3 targets in order to free his mentor Hunter (Robert DeNiro) from his imprisonment in the Middle East. The mission becomes much more complicated when covert operative Spike (Clive Owen) is thrown in the mix. Eventually the two assassins clash in a final thrilling confrontation.
"Killer Elite" is fine. If you want to catch a decent action flick, watch it this weekend at the Tango Theatres. However, it is easily forgettable and lacks originality. As much as I enjoy films from Statham, I actually feel that this is one of his weaker films.
2.5 out of 5 stars.
