Angels stress size, speed in title rematch

Guam - The Miller Football League kicks off this weekend with last year's champions the Shell Hal's Angels taking on the Cars Plus Rams. The two teams look to pick up where they left off last year in the title game where the Angels were crowned champs with the 8-7 win.

Angels wide receiver Jared Ada says the team's offense will rely on their size up front and speed in the skill positions. "This year we're looking good," he said. "The team started early because we understand it's harder to stay on top than it is to get there so the team bought into that. We are really looking forward to improving from last year's result and defending our title. Other than that we have a lot of returnees coming back, Ryan Bigler on the defensive side of the ball and our offensive line is stronger than ever believe it or not and we're just looking forward to another season of just Hal's Angels football. To all the fans thank you for all of your support and we hope to see you out there for the season and to all the other teams good luck and we'll see you out there."

Defensively the Angels will be tough as usual up front with their size on the defensive line and line-backing core. The secondary will be experienced and led by last year's interception leader, Bigler, and Joelle Limtiaco.

Ada said, "Well we lost a couple of our key veteran players from last year, some linebackers but we have been practicing for quite some time now. We have a lot of players, some new talent with guys to fill in the holes. Another thing that really killed us last year were a lot of injuries. The first year back into the MFL everyone was up tight and a lot of injuries killed us but we made it through and ended up winning the championship when everyone doubted us. We over came all those obstacles and I'm really excited for this year and we gained a lot of new talent and speed and I'm very confident in my team. We have been practicing hard and this is what champions do.

"We are going to come out and play all 4 quarters aggressive we are not going to mess around with anyone, everyone wants to beat us because we're the champs. This is what we do, this is what champs do: we play hard and we win championships."
