Guam - By the end of this week, the Department of Education is expected to start putting out invitations to bid on several capital improvement projects identified in a report conducted by Sodexo. More $141 million worth of renovations are needed at various public schools, and a bulk of the work will be done in Santa Rita at Southern High School.
Sodexo project manager Virginia Fullwood told KUAM News, "The fine arts auditorium is currently not being used. The gymnasium is currently not being used. The swimming pool is not being used. The 5000 Building is not being used. This is a travesty as far as I'm concerned. It's a beautiful, beautiful structure. It needs to be brought back online and shared by the students of Guam."
DOE is planning to use federal stimulus money for the projects covered under the Sodexo evaluation.
