Guam - The first game of the 2011 Miller Football League season will be between the Shell Hal's Angels and Cars Plus Rams, a rematch of the two teams in last year's classic championship game. The Angels beat the Rams 8-7 in the final game of the season. The two teams meet January 22 at the UOG Field.
League commissioner Charles Churchill announced, "I think all the way around, we had a pretty good team last year but we cam up short in the championship game. We're working on our mental game and keep that together and we picked up another running back this season, which is pretty good. Overall we moved people around and I think they're hungrier and they will be a little better coming in on the second year. Last year was their first year back after 6 years so I think we'll have better play."
Joey Calvo, coach for the Rams, said for his squad, "Anything short of a championship is a disappointment." On the Angels side, head coach Ivan Shiroma noted, "We were very lucky last year when we beat the Rams, and we hope that our luck will be with us again this year. They are guaranteed the favorites. Every year they are the favorites but we just really like playing these guys in the championship game."
