"Little Fockers" is the third installment of the "Focker" franchise. Unfortunately every joke in the film is a re-hash or reinterpretation of something we've heard from the previous two "Focker" releases. That unoriginality and overall laziness makes for a pretty boring film.
Ex-CIA operative Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) is getting old. He has chosen his son-in-law Gay Focker (Ben Stiller) as his top prospect to lead his extended family in the unexpected event of his passing. But before Gaylord can officially be the 'God Focker', Jack has a few requirements that his son-in-law has to complete. Between a sexy drug spokesperson Andi Garcia (Jessica Alba), to his constant posturing with the flamboyant Kevin (Owen Wilson), Gay has his work cut out for him.
The cast from the first two films return for "Little Fockers". Unfortunately, not much is given in terms of script and the actors are left reciting lines that we've heard over and over again. This horse was beaten to death in the last film, and to make us sit through more "focker" jokes for another 98 minutes is near torture. Some of it is funny, sure. But it is the same kind of laughter you get from hearing a retold joke. Sure its funny, but its old. I didn't spend $8 to hear some joke for the third time. And that is the problem with "Little Fockers" -- there really is very little originality.
If you want to spend some of the holiday season watching a film, do not watch "Little Fockers". It is unoriginal, uninspiring and unfunny.
