Guam - The four-time defending boy's high school golf champions, the Father Duenas Friars, started their season off with a 4-0 win over the JFK Islanders. The Friars played good golf yesterday at the Admiral Nimitz Golf Course to pick up the 5-4 win in both matches played. Two-time all-island champ Mando Iwanaga defeated JFK's Brandon Santos 5-4, while Redge Camacho also defeated Islander golfer Jake Padrones by the same score.
FD's other two wins came by forfeit, awarding Andrew Gumataotao and A.J. Rios with wins. FD coach Bill Reyes says his team looks strong but will have to be on top of their game through out the year in order for his boys to win their fifth straight golf title.
