Guam - Today's Guam Land Use Commission meeting kicked-off with a request to approve building the Guahan Cultural and Eco-Adventure Park near Gun Beach. President of BIG Enterprises, Mark Baldyga, presented the company's desire to incorporate Chamorro language and dance at the theme park, as well as basket making and other traditional activities promoting the island's culture and heritage geared towards tourists and locals.
"This is a heavily culturally-oriented facility. It's fun, interesting, and fun for the families to enjoy," he said.
The GLUC didn't act on the request today and tabled it for the next meeting in two weeks after former senator Ted Nelson and others presented documents claiming the Gun Beach property belongs to their families. The Commission also heard concerns about the Sheraton Resort's plans to reduce the number of parking stalls on their Tamuning property.
