Guam - Ethan Flores is a 10-year-old who attends Agana Heights Elementary School and loves the sport of jiu-jitsu. He has been under the guidance of Gabe Baker at the Carlson Gracie, Jr. Academy at the Talent Box since Febraury 2008. Ethan won a silver medal when he competed in his first tournament in August 2008 and was promoted to yellow belt in November that same year.

In his 2nd jiu-jitsu competition Ethan won another silver medal adding to his list of accomplishments.  He said, "The reason why I really love sports is because it's really fun and I can get more athletic and I can get more friends and instead of just learning at school, I can do this and practice it and maybe turn professional."

When not training in jiu-jitsu Ethan enjoys going outside kicking the soccer ball around, touching up on his skills. Ethan has played soccer for 7 years and has plans on joining football and basketball in the near future.  He said, "My favorite fruit is strawberries and bananas and my favorite vegetables are broccoli and carrots. It is important to eat vegetables because if you are in a tournament or soccer championship or any kind of sport you can maybe achieve it and go all the way without being tired."

Flores has a bright future in front of him; he's humble and eager to learn more about his sport in hopes of one day joining the names of black belts on Guam.  He said, "My ultimate goal is to get my black belt, but not to get it fast. I want to get it slowly and earn it. Especially if you are in a jiu-jitsu championship if you lose be a good sport don't like harm the guy or anything like that just have fun."
