Officers happy with chief's decision

Guam - The police officers that went to Adelup Wednesday to plead the case for the continued inclusion of a written exam in the Guam Police Department lieutenant application say they're pleased with Chief Paul Suba's decision to leave things status quo.

Major Fred Chargualaf spoke on the officers' behalf, telling KUAM News, "I'm applauding him for making that decision and I'll continue to support the police commander as well as the chief because we're all trying to do what's in the best interest of the organization which in turn serves the people. There's obviously miscommunication and that's why I'm saying this because I intend to work with the chief."

Wednesday, Suba confirmed his signature on a memo issued by Department of Administration Director Lou Perez in support of the inclusion.  Suba said that some police officers had approached him opposing the exam because it could allow some officers the opportunity to jump rank.

However, after consulting with DOA, Suba said that he's following the recommendation to keep the test.
