Atkins Kroll Toyota is warning consumers who own certain Toyota and Lexus models about a recall impacting 3.8 million of the company's vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has warned drivers to remove driver's side floor mats that can stick under accelerator pedals, causing the vehicles to surge forward.
AK director of parts and service Fred Cardinas told KUAM News, "They are going to send official letters to all the dealers and all the dealers will send letters to their customers and any customer who is unsure if their mats are affected or not can come here and we will check the floor mats for them free of charge."
The models being recalled include the 2007-2010 Camry, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2004-2009 Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007-2010 Tundra, 2007-2010 ES 350, 2006-2010 IS 250 and IS350.
