Guam will make history this December as a 27-member delegation represents our island for the very first time at the World Indigenous Traditional Games in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The Department of Chamorro Affairs, the Council of Indigenous Peoples, and the Guam Visitors Bureau announced that Team Guam will join more than 300 Indigenous athletes from nations across the globe.

From traditional archery and wrestling to music, dance, and tug-of-war, our athletes will showcase the strength, identity, and cultural pride of the Chamorro people on an international stage.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio, DCA President Melvin Won Pat-Borja, and GVB President Régine Biscoe Lee all praised the milestone, calling it a powerful moment for cultural pride, global connection, and Indigenous empowerment.

Guam’s presence at the Games stands as a tribute to our ancestors, our heritage, and the next generation carrying our stories forward.
