Highway Patrol to launch islandwide DWI sobriety checkpoint Friday night
The Guam Police Department is putting drunk drivers on notice.
Tonight, GPD's Highway Patrol Division will conduct a DWI sobriety checkpoint somewhere along our island’s busiest routes.
The primary checkpoint will be set along Route 1, covering the Yigo, Dededo, Tamuning, Asan, Piti and Hagatna areas.
Alternate locations include Route 14 in the Tamuning–Tumon area, Route 4 from Hagatna to Chalan Pago, Route 8 along the Purple Heart Highway, Route 10, Veteran’s Highway through Barrigada and Mangilao, and Route 16, Army Drive.
Police say the operation is a vital step in keeping impaired drivers off the road and preventing serious crashes.
