17th traffic death on Guam after fatal Dededo crash
The Guam Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash that claimed the life of 36-year-old Joey T. Santiago Jr. of Yona. The crash happened Monday, November 24, along Route 1 near the GPA Dededo Combustion Turbine 1 and 2.
Santiago was transported to Guam Regional Medical City, where he was pronounced deceased Tuesday. He is now the island’s 17th traffic fatality for the year. His next of kin has been notified.
According to preliminary information, the crash involved four passenger vehicles and a school bus. Police confirmed no students were on board the bus at the time. One adult male was taken to the Naval Hospital, while Santiago and an adult female were transported to GRMC.
The Guam Highway Patrol Division has resumed control of the investigation and temporarily closed northbound and southbound lanes of Route 1 near the crash site to document and map the scene.
