A legacy of humanity: Red Cross honors Chita Blaise’s 27 years of service

After nearly three decades of compassionate service, a remarkable chapter is coming to a close. The American Red Cross has announced the retirement of Chita Blaise, the executive director of the Guam Chapter, effective November 30.
For 27 years, Blaise has been the heartbeat of the Red Cross on Guam — leading with grace, strength, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. From disaster response to supporting military families, her work has touched thousands of lives and helped shape a more resilient island community.
On Thursday night at the Hyatt, surrounded by family, friends, and island leaders, Blaise was honored with the Ancient Order of the Chamorri, presented by Governor Lou Leon Guerrero — a fitting tribute to a woman whose service has meant so much to so many.
While her retirement marks the end of an era, Chita Blaise’s legacy of humanity and hope will continue to guide the Red Cross and the people of Guam for years to come.
