CNMI Del. Sablan donates historical records, artifacts to NMC Archives

As NMI Del. Gregorio Sablan wraps up a historic 8 terms in U.S. Congress, the Northern Marianas College’s archives were selected as the repository for the delegate’s historical records and artifacts. 

NMC held a ceremony this week, where a collection of documents, records, and artifacts were handed over by Sablan and his staff. The donation includes photographs of the delegate’s time in Congress featuring key moments such as his meetings with former U.S. President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The collection also features bills and laws signed related to the CNMI.

In a statement, NMC president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero said Sablan “successfully worked with both Democrats and Republicans to benefit the CNMI with increased funding, critical legislation, and key policy achievements. Now, future generations will find insight and inspiration when they study this remarkable historical record of a true statesman…”

Sablan is the CNMI’s first and only U.S. Representative and began his term on January 6, 2009.
