A man who was convicted of sexually molesting two girls known to him will spend 20 years in the Department of Corrections prison.

Sixty-four-year-old William Robert Reyes was sentenced before Judge John Terlaje in Superior Court of Guam Tuesday.

Court documents state two teenage girls told police Reyes sexually abused them when they were only about 9-years-old.

Reyes had moved off island and police were only able to track him down in Nov. 2023 after he returned to Guam.

A jury found him guilty of the crime back in February.

According to a release from the Attorney General’s Office, “Judge Terlaje recognized that defendant violated the trust of a vulnerable victim known to him and that a sentence lesser than 20 years would depreciate the seriousness of the offense.”

Reyes was also ordered to attend substance abuse treatment for his abuse of meth.

“The AG thanks this young girl for her courage coming forward, and preventing this meth-addicted pedophile from molesting other children,” the release states. “Pedophiles deserve prison, especially pedophiles that voluntarily chose to take drugs proven to create addiction & lead them to violent crimes. We urge our Senators to change Guam law to require life sentences without the possibility for parole to protect our children.”
