The man and woman accused in an armed kidnapping denied the allegations filed against them in Superior Court.

Twenty-five-year-olds Noah Cepeda and Aja Lujan were indicted by a grand jury.

The pair appeared virtually from prison before Magistrate Judge Benjamin Sison where they pleaded not guilty to the charges handed down against them.

Cepeda is charged with two counts of kidnapping, terrorizing, and felonious restraint all with a special allegation of a deadly weapon used in a felony.

Lujan is charged with complicity to commit kidnapping, complicity to commit kidnapping and complicity to commit felonious restraint.

Lujan’s Defense Attorney Mark Smith plans to argue for Lujan’s release from prison to a third party custodian.

That will be heard at a later hearing and is assigned to Judge Alberto Tolentino.

As KUAM reported, the couple was arrested last month in a kidnapping that unfolded in Maite.

The victim told KUAM he's a tattoo artist and Cepeda was his client who did not pay for his services.

Cepeda allegedly told him he would make payment that day when the kidnapping occurred.

Lujan was the alleged driver.

The victim was able to escape after they pulled over at a Barrigada gas station but Cepeda claimed he was unarmed and allegedly told police he was there to collect a drug debt.
