UOG to host Free Dementia Care Conference in May

The University of Guam is pleased to announce a full-day “Dementia Care Conference” to be held at the Westin Resort Guam on Saturday, May 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The theme of the conference is titled, “The Journey of Caregiving.” 

It is designed especially for family caregivers but is open to anyone in the community interested in learning about dementia care, including healthcare professionals, older adults, students, and community members. 

Attendance is free of charge and includes complimentary breakfast and lunch. The conference will feature Guam’s leading experts in Alzheimer’s and dementia care including:

The conference will also feature Mindfulness, mediation, and chair yoga with Lissa Sablan-Flores (Certified Yoga Therapist) Restorative art therapy with Dr. Arlene Diaz, PhD (Education and Art Therapy) Stories from family caregivers with Madrid Borja, MEd; Marie Benito, MEd: and Daphne Lujan, CNA Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, UOG President, and Dr. Yvette Paulino, Dean of the Margaret Perez Hattori-Uchima School of Health will give welcoming remarks and introduce the conference.

The conference is designed to be an educational, therapeutic, and fun day out for both individuals and families. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about dementia care to meet and connect with fellow caregivers and some of Guam’s top experts in the field.
