A teenage girl faced her alleged abuser. Trial is underway for 40-year-old Gregorio Denamarquez.

The case is being heard before Judge Vernon Perez in Superior Court today. Denamarquez stands accused of allegedly groping the girl.

The alleged abuse started in 2014 when she was just seven-years-old. The jury heard testimony today how the defendant allegedly molested her.

The latest alleged incident occurred in September 2021.

Defense attorney William Gavras questioned, “You testified that after Gregorio touched your butt, you ran out of the room?”

“I ran like, sped-walk-run,” the victim stated.

Gavras added, “You said he touched you. You turned around and you gave him a dirty look?”

The victim responded, “Yes.”

Gavras continued to ask, “And he kept his hand on you for four seconds?...You waited four seconds?”

She testified, "I didn't wait but I was just in a state of shock.”

Defense also called out the victim for giving conflicting testimony

Attorney Gavras told the child, “The reason I'm asking those questions is because it's hard for me to understand and perhaps you can explain to me how those things make such a priority for you when you told your teacher that you weren't paying attention in school, because you're distracted of what Gregorio did.”

The victim said, “That was at that point.”

A point before she reported the alleged abuse to police in April 2022.

Denamarquez is charged with five counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct. Trial is ongoing.
