A Piti neighborhood on high alert after recent robbery

A quiet neighborhood up the hill along Turner Road in Piti. Where almost every home is gated with security cameras but Monday brought an alarming scene.

Neighbor Remy Abarro recalled what she saw near her home that morning.

KUAM asked Abarro if she saw a police car and she responded, “Yeah, in front of their house…their uniforms look like the marshalls in the court.”

She later learned her neighbor woke up to find an intruder in his home.

Documents state the victim detained the intruder until police showed up. Abarro said anyone could be a target.

“Maybe one time, we will be the next one. We should be careful,” said Abarro.

Although neighbor Tricia Jones shared the same concern, she still feels safe because of how tight knit the neighborhood is.

Jones shared, “We have a WhatsApp group just for everybody to watch out for the homes and take care of eachother, kind of like a neighborhood watch…We’re all good at watching out for each other and we all just kind of send an alert and go ok, watch out for my home.”

She even applauded how her neighbor handled the situation.

“I’m from Texas so I believe that we do have a right to bear arms. if someone was breaking into my home and if it’s going to be my life or my children’s then yes we’re going to defend ourselves,” said Jones.

However, despite this sense of security, this wasn't the only robbery that happened within the past few months

Civic League President Shepherd Debenedictus, who also lives in the area, said that there had been at least three theft incidents in the neighborhood.

One of them was his own, saying, “I had the running boards taken off of my tacoma last week, right in my driveway.”

He added that other parts from his car were also taken.

As KUAM reported, the intruder was identified as 46-year-old Marc Nededog.

Nededog allegedly told the victim he was looking for dead bodies inside the walls and that God told him to do it.

Nededog allegedly gave arresting officers a hard time, kicking and moving before he was placed in handcuffs.

He was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest and is being held on $5,000 cash bail at the Department of Corrections.
