Governor appoints Dana Gutierrez to Superior Court bench
Attorney Dana Gutierrez has been nominated as the next Superior Court Judge. Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero announced her choice at a News conference today at Adelup.
"Gutierrez earned her law degree from the University of Southern California in 1997," the governor said. "She has served at the court as director of policy, planning and community relations, and has worked at the Calvo Fisher law firm where she specialized in labor and employee law. She believes she has the necessary judicial temperament for the job.
If confirmed by the legislature, Gutierrez would become the eighth member of the superior court bench. And the governor says the judiciary will not need an additional appropriation to accommodate the new judge.
Chief Justice Katherine Maraman also welcomed the nomination. In a statement, she praised Gutierrez for her "intelligence, conscientiousness and impressive array of legal experience."
