Next week dedicated to recognize island police force

Recognizing the men and women who protect and serve, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lieutenant Governor Joshua Tenorio proclaimed May 13-17 as Guam Police Week. The governor said that island's the men and women in blue have the safety of the island community in their hands and it is a responsibility they take very seriously.

"I have been as governor the past five months gotten to know the police and safety department, and their programs that we have out there and I'm very honored and proud to say they're working. I know you get criticisms out there and that is life, we just have to move forward and work better, and strengthen our forces, so that our island is a safe place," Leon Guerrero said.

GPD will have several community events throughout the week.

During the signing, it was also announced that Police Officer III Jerome E.D. Santo Tomas was selected as Police Officer of the Year; Supervisor of the Year is Sergeant Felixberto Camacho, Jr.; Manager of the Yyear is Sergeant II Norbert Sablan; and Civilian Volunteer Police Reservist of the Year is Officer Raymond P. Fernandez.

"To all the men and women of the Guam Police Department, both uniform and civilian, thank you very much for your support and your continued support to keeping our island safe," Leon Guerrero said gratefully.
