UOG public forum to address campus sexual assault

Posted: Updated:

One in five--that's the statistic of how many women across U.S. college campuses may experience an instance of sexual assault. Students at the University of Guam hope to bring light to this issue and will be hosting a free open forum on Thursday, April 25.

Evigan Sengeebau is part of the Social Work class on Family Violence.

"The month of April is sexual assault awareness and prevention month and sexual assault is also part of family violence," she said. "So we think that it is a good idea to make the campus and Guam in general aware of the problem. "UOG students, they don't know who to talk to if they experience sexual misconduct on campus, it's basically about awareness."

The forum will feature real testimony from students, faculty, and an expert who will present data on sexual misconduct across seven Micronesian campuses.

It will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the CLASS Lecture Hall.
