For guests planning to visit the new land at Disneyland park between May 31 and June 23, 2019 they will need valid theme park admission and will be required to make a no-cost reservation, subject to availability, to access the land. Guests staying at one of the three Disneyland Resort hotels during these dates will receive a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their stay (one reservation per registered guest) with their theme park admission. Details have not yet been released on how guests not staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel will make their reservation. Disney has made it clear that there will be no stand by line option for guests that weren’t lucky enough to secure a reservation during this period.
After the reservation period, beginning on June 24th, Disneyland will work to limit access to keep crowd levels low and make the land enjoyable for all. Their strategy to achieve this goal is through a system they will call boarding passes which guests will access through the Disney app. Each boarding pass will include an entry time along with a visitation time period with the length of that time period yet to be determined. It is likely that the pass will have a timed window in which it can be redeemed.
According to the recently released USA Today article,
Even as the reservation requirement goes away, Disney will continue to limit access via “boarding passes,” which guests will obtain through a Disney app. Working like a virtual queue, guests will be notified when their party may enter the new land. Officials are uncertain how long the boarding passes will be necessary based on crowds. The goal is to avoid the crush of humanity the highly anticipated land is expected to draw, even though the limitations may alienate some die-hard fans who had perhaps been prepared to wait any number of hours just to get a glimpse inside Galaxy’s Edge.
“We will be working hard to make sure guests have enough time in the land to see all those great things and experience the attraction,” Kris Theiler, vice president of Disneyland Park, said.
It sounds like Disney is working hard to make Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge an enjoyable experience right from opening day and manage crowds so everyone has a great time.
For guests waiting in line when their boarding pass time arrives, Disney has made clear that their comfort of guests waiting in that line will be addressed. Cast Members will help entertain guests with games and entertainment. There will be plenty of food and drink options to access without leaving the line along with bathroom passes so guests can use the restroom without losing their place in line.
The crowd-control measures, if any are planned, have not yet been announced for Walt Disney World in Florida.
It is likely that Disney will see how the opening and boarding passes run over at Disneyland to see if they need to implement a similar measure for Walt Disney World.

Where are they putting Star Wars Land in Disneyland?
The Disneyland Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is situated behind Big Thunder Mountain and the Rivers of America on land that was previously Big Thunder Ranch and backstage. As part of the construction process, the Disneyland Railroad and Rivers of America were closed for a few months to be rerouted so that they would not cut through the new Star Wars Land. Star Wars Land will have three entrances at Disneyland. The first is located right next to Fantasyland, the second is next to Frontierland, and the third is found via a trail from Critter Country below the Hungry Bear Restaurant.
Which park at Disney World has Star Wars Land?
The addition to the Walt Disney World Resorts will be in Disney’s Hollywood Studios park. The new land is replacing most of the park’s Streets of America attractions, including Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, the Hollywood Studios Studio Tour and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: Movie Set Adventure. The backlot facades and nearby restaurants and shops are also being replaced. There will just be two entrances leading into the Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios Star Wars Land.
“In my experience there is no such thing as luck.” ~ Obi-Wan Kenobi
Walt Disney Imagineering, the group that designs all Disney theme parks, has worked tirelessly to make Star Wars Land the most impressive step forward in theme parks we have seen in years. The new land will be fully immersive into the cannon and story of Star Wars. The Imagineering Star Wars Studio worked closely with the Lucasfilm Story Group to situate the land into the stories told in the films perfectly.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes place on a new remote planet called Batuu. This planet is rough and tumble themed to an outer frontier trading post in the Outer Rim Territories just before Wild Space. Although this planet is not specifically mentioned in the movies, it is said to have existed for thousands of years. The village on the planet of Batuu that will be the main focus of this new land with the shops and dining options is called Black Spire Outpost.
The lands will consist of lush greenery and buildings made of stone and metal. Batuu is home to smugglers, rogue traders, and a presence from the imperial First Order. Not all the characters in the land will be new though, you can be sure you’ll see BB-8, Chewbacca, and other fan favorites interacting with guests.
Overall the most impressive aspect of Star Wars Land is that they have made a pledge that you will be completely immersed inside the land. That means you won’t see Coca-Cola products sold anywhere in the land or shirts that actually say “Star Wars” on them. When you step into the portals for Star Wars Land you will literally be on Galaxy’s Edge on the planet of Batuu.
“The odds of successfully surviving an attack on an Imperial Star Destroyer are approximately” C-3P0
Star Wars Land will feature two brand new high tech attractions that will fully immerse you in the Star Wars universe: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will open first on May 31st 2019 with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening later this year.
The Disney Parks Blog have recently stated that neither attraction will be available for FastPass/MaxPass or FastPass+ at either park when they both initially open. Over time, it is likely that both rides will be added to the list of FastPass attractions- we just don’t have a specific time frame for that just yet.
“You know, that ship’s saved my life quite a few times. She’s the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy!”- Lando Calrissian
On this interactive Millennium Falcon ride, aspiring pilots can test their skills and maneuver Han Solo’s beloved ship through a mission while shooting blasters and thrusting into hyperspace. Just like other Disney interactive rides, such as Toy Story: Midway Mania, guests will be rated on how well they pilot.
Guests may earn extra Galactic Credits for a job well done or end up on a bounty hunter’s list for banging up the ship. Your performance flying the ship will literally change the way that characters throughout Galaxy’s Edge interact with you.
If you crash the Millennium Falcon you can bet that the smuggler on the street will call you out. Your experiences throughout the land will play into your reputation and your overall experience on Batuu will change as a result.
This past February Disney invited journalists from around the world on a multi-day media event to come tour Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Reporters were able to talk with more than 40 folks with Imagineering and Lucafilm that have been leading the construction team working on the project.
And the result was some amazing photos of this much anticipated attraction!
I am ready to copilot the ship that made the kessel run in 12 parsecs!
“Show me again, the power of the darkness and I will let nothing stand in our way. Show me, Grandfather, and I will finish, what you started.” Kylo Ren
The largest new Star Wars Land ride is the First Order Fleet attraction. This incredible trackless ride takes place during an epic battle between the First Order and Resistance.
Guests will feel like they are hurtling through a massive Star Destroyer as they are being pursued by the First Order. Images were shared of the incredible scale of the attraction. In one scene riders will face massive two story tall AT-AT figures and dodge through their legs below. In another scene, guests will come face to face with Kylo Ren in an interrogation.
NEW update: This past February Disney invited journalists from around the world on a multi-day media event to come tour Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Reporters were able to talk with more than 40 folks with Imagineering and Lucafilm that have been leading the construction team working on the project. More details were revealed about this large scale attraction confirming the above previous rumors that this ride will be much more than quick few minute long attraction but a 28 minute long experience!
This preview also confirmed that this attraction will truly be four attractions in one. Guests will board multiple ride vehicles, face enemies, and walk down the halls of a real Star Destroyer as if you are truly a Resistance fighter captured by the Dark Order. For the first time a Disney ride will move you from experience to experience in different vehicles and different segments to really capture that immersive feel that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is aiming to achieve.
Check out this detailed description of the attraction from one of the lucky journalistsinvited to this recent preview event:
When it begins, BB-8 and Rey will ask participants to join a mission to fight the First Order. A door will open and suddenly, you’ll be outside, walking past Poe Dameron’s X-Wing on a busy flight deck as 50 or so guests board a ship piloted by Nien Nunb — the first of multiple ride vehicles you’ll encounter. Things go well from first glance outside the high-tech monitor “windows,” but soon, you’ll be sucked inside a Star Destroyer. Once taken prisoner, you’ll see a full-sized TIE Fighter on your right and a 100-foot “window” out towards the sky as 50 Stormtroopers stand at attention, set to intimidate your group as you’re ushered through the vessel towards small detention cells modeled after the one Poe Dameron is interrogated in during “The Force Awakens.” From here, Kylo Ren will make his first of multiple appearances as you prepare to escape the First Order’s grasp — and that’s just the first third of the ride.
The queue works hard to set the scene for guests waiting to experience this immersive attraction. Disney has prepared well for this anticipated ride by creating a long indoor queue that appears to be carved from stone with laser torches with ancient carvings and high-tech Rebel equipment on display. This will be a queue added to Disney’s list of queues that will be interactive with the Play Disney Parks app that allow guests to find glowing holographic star maps. Portions of the queue also feature stone benches which is a Disney first for any line space.
Another unique aspect of this attraction is that unlike other Disney attractions that broadcast the area of its location with signs to welcome guests, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blend in with the forested area outside of the Black Spire Outpost. To get to the ride guests will walk down a side path to reach the X-Wing and A-Wing waiting to launch before they see the entrance to the attraction. Once guests enter, nothing will be visible from the trees of which there are 600 in the land.
Disney has promised that this attraction will be on a scale unlike anything that you have ever seen at any theme park (and that is including the best ride at Universal Studios Hollywood in Harry Potter World.)
Check out these recent photos from the press release this past February!
I might be a First Order sympathizer once I experience this larger than life attraction.
“How you get so big eating food of this kind?” Yoda
Star Wars: Galaxy Edge will be home to theme park shopping and dining experiences like nothing you have ever seen before. To help keep this immersive experience authentic you won’t see Cast Members dressed in one uniform throughout the land, rather they will all be unique to the shop or restaurant.
Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts guests can dine at a cantina similar to Tatooine’s Mos Eisley Cantina from Episode IV: A New Hope called Oga’s Cantina.
Here patrons can try Star Wars-inspired food and unique drink concoctions! This cantina will be another immersive experience where guests can buy and barter for their food and drink to feel like they are truly at a space trading post. Disney has announced that this location will also serve alcohol- a first for Disneyland!
On trading cards that were given away in the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland one card showed Rex, the robot pilot from the original Star Tours, entertaining guests with the caption of “Rex entertains the crowd.” Rex has re-envisioned himself as the cantina’s DJ and will provide the musical entertainment. The cantina songs are original to the land created by composers and songwriters worldwide.
See the images below to get a preview of the drinks you can enjoy in this rambunctious cantina.
Disney has partnered with several breweries and winemakers to create beers and wines specific to Oga’s Cantina. A few examples shared with recent journalists are: Bad Motivator IPA, White Wampa Ale, Spiced Rutter Cider, Imperial Red Cab Sav, and Toniray White from Alderaan.
Oga’s Cantina has been rumored to be mainly standing room only- likely to prevent guests from camping out for too long so everyone can get a chance to experience this lively spot in Black Spire Outpost.
You will be able to find this designated location for ‘traveling food shuttles’ under the large hanger that draw guests into the Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
Check out this quote from the Disney Parks Blog about Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo,
Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs is in much demand for his culinary skills, so he moves from site to site in a modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport that becomes a mobile kitchen and restaurant like an intergalactic “food truck.” His travels across the galaxy allow him to fill his pantry with exotic ingredients he uses to make new and unusual dishes inspired by the fare he created during his time working for Maz Kanata in her castle on Takodana. Now, “Cookie” is proud to share his cuisine with visitors at Tuggs’ Grub, a “traveling diner for diners traveling.”
Cookie’s food shuttle is the one we see docked on the roof of the hangar bay is said to be carrying precious cargo of Chef Tuggs’ finest foods from across the galaxy.
See the preview images below to get a visual sampling of these exotic delicacies from around the galaxy.
Based on the food options released so far this appears to be our main restaurant that will be accompanied by smaller vendors that we will find in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (below) while Oga’s Cantina will serve as the local tavern option. Guests will be able to dine indoors in the hangar bay or outside in the courtyard.
As one of the food pods available near the hangar bay, Ronto Roasters will offer meats spit-roasted over a former Podracer engine turned by a former smelter droid, 8D-J8.
Guests will be able to interact with 8D-J8 while they wait and sample these fine roasted meats.
You cannot have a Star Wars themed land without blue milk! This will be the place to go to get your blue or green milk from Bubo Wamba Family Farms. Disney has said this won’t be made from actual milk which will make many vegan travelers happy.
One of the other street market stalls offering galaxy delicacies, this grain vendor sells the Outpost Mix (sweet and salty popcorn with a hint of spice) for guests to enjoy. The loyal Disneyland popcorn fans will be happy about this!
Guests will be able to purchase these Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed Coca-Cola products inside the land. The bottles are fashioned in a droid-like shape with labels that appear scuffed up to fit within the ‘rusty look’ of Star Wars. The labels will be written in Aurebesh- the Star Wars language you will see used throughout Galaxy’s Edge.
I’m already saving my appetite to enjoy all of these amazing food options!
“Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?” Princess Leia
The village of Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will consist of small storefronts that will be stuffed with props to make them appear like vendor stalls. The idea is that each shop has an elaborate backstory and is run by a colorful character from the Star Wars universe.
The merchandise aims to be completely immersive by making it look like it was either hand-sewn by locals, put together from spare parts in a droid junkyard, or collected from high profile Star Wars locations in the galaxy.
And you will only be able to get this merchandise within the land- making it completely unique from other Star Wars merchandise typically sold in the parks that you can often purchase online on the Shop Disney website.
This is where you can come to build your lightsabers! This secretive group of people who run this shop, the Gathers, have dedicated their lives to restoring balance in the galaxy by passing on their knowledge of the Jedi and the Force.
The workshop Master will guide guests to customize and build their own lightsabers and teach them the ways of the Jedi. Guests will choose four disciplines: Power and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental and Nature, or Protection and Defense. After that, they will choose their kyber crystal. Once those choices have been made, the workshop Master will give you a set of 10 lightsaber pieces to combine to create your custom lightsaber.
This sounds like more than just your average shopping option but a full immersive experience that will truly make any Padawan feel that they’ve stepped into the Star Wars universe. Press previews have revealed that the shop will only hold 14 people at a time and the experience will be 15 minutes long- I imagine this means that this could be a reservation option. We will have to wait and see as we learn more!
The Creature Stall, run by another new character named Bina, will feature different creatures of the Star Wars galaxy like porgs, tauntauns, Rathars, and more. These creatures will react when you squeeze, stroke or poke theme. Some vibrate and come to life in your hands! Keep an eye out for the dozing Lothcat inside.
The toy stall run by local Batuu Toydarian, Zabaka, will feature Star Wars favorites like Chewbecca, Yoda, and stormtroopers all created to appear like they’re handmade with scraps found in land.
Kids can pull off C-3PO’s head and he will cry in terror or if you put it on backwards it will quote the movies by saying: “What’s going on? Turn around. I can’t see.” There will be a remote-controlled robotic R-3X — the former Star Tours pilot turned cantina DJ — that will talk, roll, and play wireless music from your phone.
Toydarian, a character first introduced in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” will run this toy stall in Black Spire Outpost.
For the hardcore Star Wars fans, you can purchase full outfits at Black Spire Outfitters including options to mix and match clothing so you can fit right in with the immersive feel of the land.
Guests can find gear that showcases their Resistance loyalty with clothing, badges, and more at the Resistance Supply.
If the First Order is your style, guests can display their allegiance and choose among gear and supplies that the 709th Legion brought with them to First Order Cargo.
The theme of Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is that of a rare collector selling items that represent various eras of the Star Wars unviverse such as ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts, lightsabers, holocrons, and more.
Dok-Ondar will be present in the shop as guests inspect his wares- taking calls at his desk and barking orders to his assistants. Be sure to scroll down through the article to read more about this colorful character and his special Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge comic book role!
The shop will feature rare Jedi artifacts to those studying to ancient lore to cultivate.
This shop will feature collectibles or “relics” that have been left behind by the Sith.
Guests can also purchase Holocrons, which are ancient repoisitories of wisdom used by the Jedi and the Sith to record their teachings so future generations could understand the Force. Kyber crystals can unlock additional content in both Jedi and Sith Holocrons.
The Droid Depot will allow guests to build their own personal droids that will act as their friends throughout Black Spire Outpost.
Guests can build their own R-series or BB-series droids along with other droid varieties. These droids will be capable of interacting with the immersive elements of Batuu which is sure to make them a popular merchandise option.
The Jewels of Bith marketplace stall will carry accessories and other trinkets.
“As my sweet mother always said, ‘Son, if one hostage is good, two are better. And three, well, that’s good business.’” -Hondo Ohnaka
Hondo Ohnaka is a fan favorite pirate from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels that will be brought to life as one of Disney’s most advanced Audio-Animatronics figures ever made. You will find him waiting in the control tower in the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. He has teamed up with Chewbecca and needs you to transport cargo on the fastest ship in the galaxy!
“Remember,” he tells guests in the queue. “The more you work together, the more you earn. Your lives — and my profit — depend on it!”
Dok-Ondar is another animatronic Ithorian you will meet who runs the black market on Batuu. He’s mentioned briefly in Solo: A Star Wars Story so he also has some history in the Star Wars cannon. His shop, Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, will carry all treasured artifacts. According to Walt Disney Imagineering, he is a fairly well-connected, dangerous scoundrel but he may be willing to barter! As Imagineering show programmer Amy Goodwin said at the recent press preview, “He has two moods. He can be happy or frustrated.” Be sure to scroll down to read about rumored role in the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge comic.
Zabaka is a female Toydarian will run a shop with artisan-style items, convor whitles, musical instruments (playable and come pre-loaded with tunes) along with plushies of aliens and heroes.
Bina runs The Creature Stall which offers oinking puffer pigs, writhing rathtars, and chirping porgs.
Fan favorites of Star Tours will also be happy to hear that R-3X, or Rex, our first Star Tours captain has taken over as the DJ in Oga’s Cantina. In the sneak peak offered to the official Star Wars website, “he bopped his head charmingly to the music, which sounded like what could only be called Jawa hip hop.”
Aside from these charming animatronics, the village of Black Spire Outpost will also be filled with Cast Members taking on roles of villagers with varying stories. Some might be Resistance sympathizers or some may be loyal to the First Order. Depending on your own allegiances, you may want to choose your words wisely as you converse with the locals.
“I’m one with the Force. The Force is with me.” Chirrut mwe
Cast Members working in the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge area of Disneyland will be a huge part of the success of the immersive storytelling experience. The costumes are going to be a large part of what makes this immersive feel so real to the guests of Black Spire Outpost.
There will be different styles that allow Cast Members to mix and match pants and shirts and accessories to give every villager their unique look. The First Order and Resistance will also have their own costumes that reflect their allegiances.
The costume designer behind this magic, Joe Kucharski, took his inspiration from all of the Star Wars films in addition to the animated series to create these looks. Disney worked hard to make these clothes comfortable for the Cast Members along with staying true to the Star Wars iconic look by working with innovative fabrics that make the costumes breathable and lighter for those hot summer months.
Cast Members can create their own characters but are limited on just how inspired they can get- for example, no relatives of any iconic characters allowed.
Devoted Star Wars fans have had many questions as we await this much anticipated land! Scroll down to find out more about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Why the planet Batuu?
Imagineers wanted this to be a completely new land and created the planet of Batuu, which is not featured in the movies, so that this could be a new story to be told. According to the portfolio creative executive of Walt Disney Imagineering Scott Trowbridge,“We know those places. We know the stories that happened there and we know we’re not in them. This place, Black Spire Outpost, is designed to be a place that invites exploration, discovery, a place that invites us to become a character in the world of Star Wars.”
What is Black Spire Outpost?
The planet name is Batuu- the name of the village that is the focus of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is called Black Spire Outpost.
Will guests get to see favorite characters?
The details that have been released about the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction have revealed that guests will see Poe, BB-8, Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren on the ride- portrayed mostly on screens. As for roaming characters or meeting them in person, we’ll have to wait and see. It could be that guests will still meet favorites (Chewy, Darth Vader, Rey, and Kylo Ren) over at Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland.
What is the timeline of Batuu in the Star Wars universe?
Imagineers have said that the story of Batuu and its village of Black Spire Outpost takes place at some point within the current trilogy. This gives Imagineers the freedom to change the land as new movies come out and the Star Wars universe continues to grow.
When you think of it that way, it does make sense they picked a brand new location within the time frame of these more recent movies. Picking a planet like Tatooine in the midst of the original series, for example, would truly limit how much it could grow since like Disney said those stories have been told.
Are these new characters in the land and other added elements now Star Wars cannon?
Star Wars experts would say YES- everything revealed in Batuu will become official Star Wars cannon including the rides.
Is there a story behind the land’s rock design?
Disney wanted Batuu to have its distinct element in the same way that Hoth’s main physical feature is snow or Tatooine’s is sand. So in the case of Batuu, the main feature are spires which are chunks of petrified rock that were once giant trees and have since cracked and broken.
One spire in the middle of the land is blacker than the rest- which is where we truly get the village name Black Spire Outpost.
What will happen to Star Tours once Galaxy’s Edge opens?
Disney has already said that Star Tours will remain safe and sound in its long standing location inside Tomorrowland.
What other surprises can guests expect to see at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
Well, this is the question that keeps on giving but for now we know that one surprise feature guests will see are lasers beams flying through the air. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what this means!
If I can buy lightsabers, can I buy blasters?
Nope, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will adhere to Disney rules- no blasters.
What kind of Star Wars easter eggs can I expect?
This land is going to be Star Wars fan HEAVEN- so yes, you can expect a plethora of Star Wars easter eggs from the classic films to the newest trilogy.
For example, guests will see a dianogo (the eyeball/snake creature from the trash compacter in A New Hope) hiding behind a tube above a water fountain. It will pop out when people drink from the water fountain!
Will the lands in Disneyland in Anaheim and Walt Disney World in Orlando be different?
Aside from slight differences in certain color schemes that work better with each state’s weather/sun levels and Florida having one less entrance into the land- the lands will be identical.
“Oh, my dear friend. How I’ve missed you.” C-3PO
And that’s not all! The Oscar-winning composer John Williams is creating new and original Star Wars themes exclusively for the land!
You can listen to the preview in this new video, which showcases recent construction progress at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
“Chewie, we’re home.” Han Solo
A surprise announcement came at the D23 Expo in the summer of 2017 sharing that in addition to Star Wars Land in Walt Disney World they are working on a brand new Star Wars-themed immersive hotel. The new hotel will be located right next door to the new Star Wars Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and will even hook into the new land with experiences and the same ability to earn Galactic Credits through your adventures.
Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek had this to say about this immersive hotel experience:
From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.
Guests can choose certain lengths of stay and enjoy a specific story line for that entire time period that will fully immerse them into the Star Wars universe. Not many details have been released about the new hotel yet, but I sure am excited about this potentially game changing new experience. If the new Star Wars Land hotel is successful I would expect that Disney would replicate the experience in other locations for Star Wars and with other character franchises.
“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Yoda
The Play Disney Parks app will be a central piece to helping guests feel the reality of being the interactive village of Black Spire Outpost in Batuu. The app will allow guests to translate the language of Aurebesh, a galactic language in the Star Wars universe, and find hidden crates and containers, play in-queue games, message characters, and participate in land specific missions. The four tools in the Star Wars app are called Hack, Scan, Translate and Tune.
Guests will also be able to accept jobs from the ‘job board’ inside the app. These variety of jobs (which are truly just games) will vary in time to complete and all encourage you to explore the land.
There will be a main game that is the center of the app that allows people to side with the Resistance or the First Order and then they can compete with others in the area to acquire land.
Everything you do on the app will save to your profile so you can keep building on it with each visit! Your actions will define your true allegiance as either Resistance, First Order, or Scoundrel.
Guests will be able to use the app to interact with the elements in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge like droids, ships, media screens, door panels, antenna arrays and even drinking fountains according to the Disney Parks blog. Don’t worry- no wifi is needed!
Yes, you read right! Star War: Galaxy’s Edge is getting its own comic! The series is written by Ethan Sacks, author of a tale of Jedi Master, Mace Windu, in the Star Wars: Age of Republicseries. The series will be illustrated by Will Sliney, who penciled the comic adaptation for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Cover art will be created by Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm artists.
This comic will tie into the new land opening at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The comic releases in April and will feature the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu as pirates, smugglers, merchants, and wanderers travel to sell wares or settle scores.
This five-issue miniseries will feature the infamous Dok-Ondar, the Ithorian collector of rare antiquities, the First Order as they tangle with the Outer Rim smugglers, and a possible appearance from Han Solo and Chewbecca. In terms of the Star Wars cannon, Dok-Ondar was first mentioned in Solo: A Star Wars Story when Qi’ra asks if he’s being ‘well attended to’ when they’re on the First Light- the yacht operated by Crimson Dawn leader Dryden Vos while Vos met with Tobias and Han Solo. He is a character that is hinted at making appearances in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge so this comic is setting the stage for fans to become familiar with this new character.
The comic will also feature some Han Solo and Chewbecca smuggling history- according to the description on the Star Wars website!
Check out the sneak peak for the cover art below:
For folks waiting for news about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge- picking up this comic is a good idea! According to Ethan Sacks,
