Hearing begins for Aguigui confirmation

Posted: Updated:

At this hour, the confirmation hearing for the administration's nominee for adjutant general Lt Col. Esther Aguigui.

Her nomination has seen some controversy as a reprimand on her record drew criticism. She had received an improper $26,000 housing allowance, but the allowance was paid back in full, something former TAG Roderick Leon Guerrero said meant Aguigui knew receiving the money was improper.

Aguigui received a state promotion from Magahaga Lou Leon Guerrero. The promotion to colonel is waiting on federal approval. Aguigui's hearing was scheduled for 4:45 p.m., however testimony in favor of Guam Police Department chief nominee Capt. Steve Ignacio ran long.

Committee Chair Sen. Jose "Pedo" Terlaje began her hearing by saying he's sure she's going to be confirmed.
