Teacher of the Year semi-finalists announced

Posted: Updated:

Twelve of the island's top public educators have been announced as semi-finalists for the Guam Department of Education and Foundation for Public Education's 2019 Teacher of the Year program.

“I want to congratulate our semi-finalists and acknowledge all they do to guide our future generations and for the service they provide to our students and families,” GDOE Superintendent Jon Fernandez said. “I’m looking forward to seeing them interacting with the judges and sharing more about the work they are doing in our classrooms. Thank you to all the candidates who participated in this year’s program.”

As part of the next phase of the program, the semi-finalists will be interviewed to narrow down the group to six finalists. The final phase includes classroom observation conducted by judges, who are former Guam Teacher of the Year representatives.

Based on these results, the finalist with the highest points will move on to represent Guam at the national level, according to GDOE.
